This is what we want the end result of the cake to be.

Bridget loves the look of this cake.

Getting Ready for the Tea Party

Thursday Night now. The birthday party preparations are moving forward. All I need now is a tea pot and the choice of "tea".

I will let Bridget make the choice of that beverage tomorrow night. The cakes are ready to be made. I finally had to end up buying a set of bowls by Anchor Hocking.

I know that I could have found a better solution, but the time was not there to do all of the shopping . So I will do one cake at a time. The end result will be a beautiful cake, because Bridget will be helping to decorate her very first teapot cake.

Planning the Tea Party

The tea party will be on Saturday May 2, (this weekend!). It will be in celebration on Bridget's 8th Birthday. I am planning it.

The guests have all been invited. The teacups, saucers, teapot and all accessories are being gathered together. The table and chairs are in place. We will decorate that area Saturday, all the while having in mind the weather could be bad and have to bring it inside.

The cake was found in Southern Living. A teapot cake. The recipe comes from My Recipes. It is the cutest cake. Bridget loves it. I am baking it Friday. We will start decorating it Friday night. This will be my first time working with fondant. Checking on Amazon.com
I have found items relating to using fondant.

Each little girl with have a straw hat to decorate with flowers. That I think will be the first activity. They can then wear the hat with the little white gloves. I have asked that they all come in dress up. Bringing play clothes for after the tea party.

Finding the right bowl to bake the cake in to achieve the teapot shape is proving to be a bit difficult for me. None of my bowls are ovenproof.

I am going to use a couple of ideas I found on having a tea party . There were several nice ideas to use. Especially the teapot invitation. I think I will carry that further and make place mats, that the girls can also decorate.
